App signing - what am I missing?

I'm trying to upload a test release of the first of my few little apps that I think might be worth releasing. I have (successfully I think) opted into app signing by google play. I can see certificate fingerprints and an option to download the certificate but I don't know what to do with them/it. I seem to have created a keystore with a key and a signed bundle without having to paste the fingerprint or certificate anywhere so when I try to upload I'm told the bundle is not signed. Incidentally the app uses google maps api for which I believe I have a release key in the right place.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?
 
Thanks, LV426. I have gone through this so many times my head hurts, but I've done it all again and I seem to have got further. Is seems I don't need to use the certificate nor private key!
