App Suggestion for developers! OBD Vehicle Diagnostics!

There's a few apps out there in the iphone world for OBD Vehicle diagnostics... Check out Rev, seems to be the best one and most feature rich with a very nice GUI.

DevToaster - Rev - iPhone app development, Great iPhone apps, and more

Here's the issue with the current iphone apps for OBD diagnostics, THEY DON'T HAVE BLUETOOTH COMMUNICATION as an option for connecting to the car's com interface. You are forced to buy a $200 wifi adapter to plug into your car, ridiculous!

I have a bluetooth OBD plug plugged in my truck right now, $29 .. works FANTASTIC with windows and on my mac.. I use ScanXL, works perfect, mounts as a COM port, I am not certain, but it seems that android 2.1+ supports COM through bluetooth right?...

I know if there was an OBD diagnostics application for android with support through bluetooth communication that could show all sensor values and OBD2 engine codes, it would be sure to sell very well... Especially if the interface works with cheap bluetooth com interfaces unlike Rev on the iPhone.

awesome app...not available yet - only to beta testers (apply in thread) and will not be available to android OS 1.5 users....::cries next to my droid eris::

Oh my... no wonder I got a flood of PM's on mp3car of people wanted to beta test in the past two days... thanks pwabbit! :-D

But yes, it's 2.0+ only, however someone pointed out to me a 1.6 bluetooth backport... but I don't know if it works yet. 1.5 isn't going to happen ever unless someone makes a backport for that as well. I'm hoping to be able to do a market release within the next month or so. I have the base communications down, I just have to add some features like trouble codes and clearing before the first release.

Is there any chance of these apps working with the wifi OBD2 readers?

And how about actually being able to flash your vehicles ECU via your phone? It would be nice to be able to remove fuel cut for free.
