When I bought my Galaxy 3 it had a program already on it that would let me find addresses and give oral directions but it has disappeared. How can I get it back?

I believe you are referring to the navigation app (blue arrow icon)
If this is the case, its not gone. That icon was simply a shortcut to the navigation feature inside Google maps. The recent update to Google maps has removed the shortcut, but you can still access the feature from within the maps app.
