Help App to determine what's periodically crippling Galaxy S5?

Many times per day, my wife's Galaxy S5 becomes unresponsive to touch (screen or back/menu buttons). It doesn't respond to touch for a while (10-30 seconds), but then once it starts responding, it works fine. There's a reasonable amount of free RAM. I don't THINK it's a hardware issue. I suspect that some app (let's call it "BadApp") is periodically doing something that is so CPU intensive that it temporarily cripples the phone. I installed the app System2 which logs the CPU & battery usage over time, but after a day of uses, the results didn't indicate that any particular app was using a lot of CPU. However, it's possible that an offending app isn't using much CPU on average, but is periodically using a crippling-amount of CPU.

Can anyone recommend an app that could help me determine which app may be causing the problem?

Running in Safe Mode will disable all apps you added without uninstalling them. If the problem stops while in Safe Mode it was caused by an app that you added.

If it is an app then you could get out of safe mode and make a guess at the culprit and uninstall it. Start with the most recently installed?

Keep going until it stops and then reinstall ell the good apps that you uninstalled.
