App to make Droid USB behave like iPhone?

I had an iPhone until I got the Droid yesterday. I absolutely love the Droid and would never go back to an iPhone. However, the iPhone integrated well with my car radio, which has a USB port. The radio can play from USB, but then I have to navigate my folders from the radio. It's difficult, unintuitive, and less functional than playing music directly from the phone.

Is there an app that would fake out a connected device to make it think the Droid was an iPhone, and would let me use the Droid's music player interface to play music through the USB?

Thats an excellent idea, I would love this feature as well.

I could go get a 3.5mm cable and connect to my aux port, but then the current song won't show up on the display and I kind of like that. It's not a big deal, just a cosmetic thing that I like. That also means I have two cables connected to my phone when I'm in my car instead of one.

The ExtUSB connector on HTC phones also carry audio. If you use a connector like this then you will have just one cable coming from your phone and still connect the the aux on your car stereo.

I'd love to figure this out too! I got a new car and my USB stereo can't detect my G1 phone and I'm really annoyed with this. Yeah having the name of an song and info coming up on my read out in my car is great but I rather have this work so I don't have wires all over the place and I can navigate my music from my the stereo interface instead of pulling out the phone and navigating while in traffic... It's reckless and I can get fined now in my state for messing with my phone like that b/c it's an action like "texting". Not only that but it really does require a lot of attention to mess with the phone to do something when it's easier to press 3 buttons on my car interface that is closer in relative distance to the road viewing area and my eyes are already focused on the road. (This may have not made sense... But when your eyes start to focus slower on close to far things like mine it makes sense.)

If there is anyway to maybe have the phone to tell the system the phone is like an iphone. I know the car can read thumb drives too. But it works only some thumb drives. I tried to have the mount sd card apps allow me to press it in the same time as pluging up the phone but it didn't work either.

Just curious as my car doesn't have a USB input option for it's stereo.......what happens if you connect the Droid to the stereo via the USB/charging cable that came with the phone? The reason I ask is that when I have my phone connected to a computer with the USB/charging cable I have the option to "mount" the the SD card as a drive. Wonder if you could do the same thing and have the stereo read the music on the SD card.

If the head unit supports it you can.

Nope. The iPod interface in head units is just for iPods. I suppose something could possibly come along to change that but I have yet to see such a solution.
