App to prevent apps from reading your personal data ?

Hello everybody,

do you know any application to prevent other applications from reading your personal data (contact, identity, history, ...) ?

That would be great to be able to use our phone without giving away to unknown company/people our very personal data.

How is e.g. a dialer supposed to work if it has no access to your contacts? Or a mail application, or any other app that needs the access to work properly if you disable the access?

There is no way to do it and the only workaround is to check permission for every app you decide to install and if it has permissions you do not like you do not install it.

Besides, there is a thread in the Applications forum that explains the whole notion of permissions in Android. You might want to look it uup and you will understand more.

If you are a person afraid of divulging any of your iinformation then Android is not the right OS for you.

Definitely read up on the permissions. You can't assume that you know what an app needs simply by the name of the permission. It's not always that straightforward.
