app to turn phone off.

Acer liquid e... great phone.

My only beef is with the charging of it. I have one charger that charges the phone pretty quickly, but my car charger (and usb thru computer) charges very slowly... to the point that it takes an hour or longer of charging to even boot up my phone if it has died altogether.

Is there an app out there that can turn my phone off after the battery reaches 10% or less? I would really like to see someone write this app as too many times I've been on the run overnight and dealt with a dead phone that takes an hour to even have enuf juice from my car charger to turn on.

If there is it would require root. There is no shutdown privilege/ability for apps.

Some things like Tasker and Locale can turn off some of the biggest battery draining features as the battery gets low though (such as 3G, WiFi, GPS, background data sync). That might at least get you a bit more time when things are low.

Tasker can be set up to shut off your phone when your battery is at a preset level using the Locale Execute plugin. However it will require root privileges, just as any phone would.

You can get faster car chargers. Pay attention to the mA rating of the charger next time. USB is 500mA. Shoot for 1000mA/1A on the car charger.

I second that.
There is a motorola fast car charger on amazon for less than 6 bucks and it charges at 1 amp. Very handy if you are running gps, navigation,... and still want your battery to actually charge.
