Appbrain, in general is at the time of this review, a great online alternative to the Android Marketplace. This app allows you to check out "Hot" apps from yesterday to about a week. Also if you find a great app on your phone or your computer, if you make an account, you can sync the app info to your phone/computer to download it. Like the Market, it offers reviews but it's more organized and isn't as ackward to search for stuff like the Market. Plus, the app gives you recommendations based on your downloads.
