Did you know there is a 350 Page patent their Multi Touch technology from the scratch broad to the final product. This is the same reason why others dont come out with Multi touch screen phone. If you research about the Palm Pre and Apple there is big thing going on with the Patent issue. If apple were to sue them then Palm can do the same because there where is the touch devices and cell phone way before apple. I am sure they have bunch of patent laws for their touch screen devices. I am pretty sure there will be more update on the Multi touch and it wont be from Google. Their a software developer I am sure their not going to japerdise their OS. At this moment the OS spreading extremly fast thur the tech industries and they dont have time to go mess around with apple. I know the pinch in zoom is nice and all but come on G1 is way better then iPhone, keep in mind iphone had 2 years head start. Give G1 some more time and the paid apps needs to start showing up then people will make some good looking apps.

I my self use the JF RC33 with multi touch. Its pretty cool but its bit laggy. keeping in mind its the 1st, and it works! People who has come up with the multi touch GOOD JOB! I hope you keep it up and improve it to perfection.

Sure multitouch would be great, but if its just for zooming and rotating who really cares. Guess what, you can zoom in and out with just ONE finger with google maps. And for everything else, just add an on screen button or put it in a menu.

Multitouch is great for a few things, but nothing that you can't live without. And if you're google, not worth getting into a legal battle with an industry partner.

I always thought the magnifying buttons were clunky and not very responsive, so when I rooted my phone and got multi-touch I thought I would be a lot happier. Now that I have multi-touch I hardly ever use it and think the magnifying buttons are more convenient. It's definatly better to have both but what I would really like is an option to have the volume selector control the zoom. I'm sure sooner or later someone at xda will make it happen.

Excellent suggestion, assuming you're in portrait orientation, not landscape.
