Application to compress text (SMS) messages to use fewer characters?

I was wondering whether there existed an application that would enable me to type normally and then compress my message into familiar txtspk?

You know; so "enable me to type" becomes "enable me2type" etc.

Wont make much difference for some people on some tariffs but can reduce costs for people on pay as you go.
