Help Apps completely reload when multitasking

I have an LG Stylo 4. I believe it has Android Oreo in it.

To preface: I am an over-the-road truck driver. I frequently will toggle between applications, especially applications that require internet connectivity. However not all the time will I have internet connectivity

My super frustrating issue is this. I will go to a customer's website in my Android Google Chrome browser, pull up an address or some information about receiving at a particular company, and then switch over to Google Play Music to listen to some music while I'm going down the road. When I come back to Google Chrome, it will reload like I never ever had an internet connection in my life and that it needs to now reload that website even though the information was already perfectly there doing just fine. What in God's name is happening Google Chrome or any other application to completely and utterly reloads as I have never been there before in my life? Why can't things just stay the way they are? The problem that this creates for me is that if I do not have an internet connection when I pull over to stop and look at something that I previously pulled up when I did have an internet connection, it will attempt to reconnect to the internet when there is no internet and that it will simply give me nothing but a dinosaur and some screw you text, and then I have to wait until I get internet again to get the same website all over again.

In closing I do want to make it extremely clear that I do not have the developer options set to make everything disappear after apps or whatever open. I have no special settings set up that I am aware of. Any help for this frustrating crap would be greatly appreciated.

Usually it can happen when your phone is low on RAM.

This makes a lot of sense..problem is that this happens all the times to me too and my phone isn't definitely low in ram..

I also do need to get to the bottom of this issue that has became too old and not solution..and like the op said, it's so frustrating and annoying..the other day I almost caused an accident due to this crap..

Could be the problem. According to published specs the LG Stylo 4 only has 2GB RAM, which quite frankly is not a lot for a recent phone running 8.1 Oreo, and is probably the bare minimum to run Oreo. I'm using 8.1 Oreo myself with a phone that has 6GB RAM, a Huawei Mate 10, and can multitask no problems with any apps.

Yes 2gb RAM is the minimum to run Marshmallow. My HTC 10 manages pretty well with Nougat while having 3gb of RAM. The Oreo is quite heavy and my Oppo R15 needs no less than 6gb of RAM to run smoothly.

That is Chrome and has nothing to do with RAM. It occasionally reloads pages.

He should try the same website with another phone with better hardware to see if the probem persists.

I've had the same issue in the past with my LG G4 Stylus, it has only 1GB of RAM so apps like Chrome, Tapatalk... don't stay on the same page because thay don't have enough of memory to cache the data so they need to refresh.

With my current phones I don't have the problem anymore, even if the Chrome app has more than 10 tabs open most of the time.

Try going to chrome://flags

Turn off Enable tab discarding or Auto Reload tags (paste these lines into your browser address bar)
  • chrome://flags/#enable-tab-discarding
  • chrome://flags/#enable-offline-auto-reload-visible-only
You will need to close chrome and reload it for the setting to take affect.
