Apps for 2.1 vs. 1.5

It seems there are many more apps for 1.5 than there are for 2.1. As a matter of fact, for some reason many of the apps I had with 1.5 I cannot find on the market with 2.1.

So my question: Is this truly the case, or am I missing something? Should I expect those apps to eventually be compatible with 2.1? Is there anything I can do to make them work?

Seems odd as I haven't encountered that issue in any great magnitude. Got any specific examples?

All of the apps that I used with 1.5 I have continued to use with 2.1. Over time, I am slowly deleting all of my old 1.5 apps and installing the 2.1 versions only because the Market wasn't recognizing my saved 1.5 apps.

Instead of seeing "installed" next to app on my phone, I would still see "download."

3. Catholic Dictionary
4. Church Finder
5. Tapatalk

If your running the Eris leak you will not have any protected apps till 2.1 goes official.

If you are using a root 2.1 you need to use the market fix to open this up.

This has nothing to do with the market and everything to do with the phone.

PS if you aren't on the Eris as your profile says forget this.

I'm sure there's also at least a few cases where a developer loses interest in an app and doesn't want to spend the time to update it to 2.1 or adapt it to work on newer phones but leaves it out there as 1.5.

When making an app, the developer can specify things such as REQUIRES_CAMERA and also the minimum and maximum acceptable OS version. But really, if a simple app does not require advanced new features, then the developer can safely set the minimum OS level to 1.5. It's the same case as running Ports of Call on Windows XP.

Ah, well, if these apps are "old" then the developers may have set min=max=1.5 because they didn't think ahead (actually, back before we knew about 2.0, 2.0.1, and 2.1, we had no idea what those versions were going to be named). Of course these apps will never show up for the newer versions, which is rather sad.

That some apps are not visible to you, you personally can do nothing about. But, you could ask the developers to check if minimal adjustments could be made to make those apps available.
