Apps have moved back to Internal Storage

Last week I went through all my apps and moved the ones I could to my SD card. Today most of them are back on Internal Storage. Very strange. Anyone else come across this?

When you update them, the default back to internal storage. So you must move them back to your ext card.

It didn't used to do that back in the Gingerbread days (the last time I used move to SD). Mind you, it was an official Android feature back then, which it hasn't been since 4.0, so it may be a feature of the way Samsung have added it back.

Have you tried the ADB command:

adb shell pm set-install-location 2

That should change the default install location to SD, which sounds like what you want.

Thanks Hadron, I will give it a go. The mind boggles at android programmers - why would anyone want apps to switch storage on an update!?

Well, Android does not officially support SD cards anymore, except as adoptable storage. Then, Samsung disabled adoptable storage. Marshmallow wasn't really designed to handle apps in a separate drive like an SD card. And Samsung believed that the SD card was mostly going to be used as media storage.

Makes sense. Maybe it would be better just to leave the apps on internal storage and use the SD card for its intended purpose. Thanks again for all the help, much appreciated.
