Apps reopening

Wj100

Lurker
My Note 8 has developed a very annoying thing where it relaunches apps a couple seconds after I go back to the home screen. The only way to stop it from happening is by closing all the apps or by going into another app. Tried rebooting and it seems to help momentarily but then the problem starts again

Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks !

Do upi have a screen protector on? A case perhaps? If so, could be one of those causing the issue.

Is there a magnetic nearby?

Are the same apps opening up?

Obviously this didnt happen on the first day you bought the device so when did it start ? Did you install an app or uninstall some app prior to this? Do yo have any aggressive battery saver apps/routines running in the background?

What’s your carrier, phone model (snapdragon?) running any beta firmware (e.g. android pie)?

Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions:

I have a glass zagg guard but I've had it ever since I've had the phone and this is a newish problem.

No magnets

It opens the app that was most recently open

Can't think of an app I installed that coincided with the issue

No battery saver apps

Note 8 on Verizon running Oreo

Thanks again!

Still could be the zag causing phantom touches on the screen. Especially since you mention the last app is the one that opens.

I’m not a fan of screen protectors given the level of security gorilla glass have shown me (my opinion) but i would think about this being an issue.

My gut tells me it's not the Zagg guard. If it was, I think it would be more consistent Plus, there isn't really even a button you can press that reopens apps (unless you press the left button twice I guess).

Well you know your phone better than I do. :)

Ive been around forums for a while and screen protectors can cause phantom ghost touches. You are welcome to search the internet to read up on the same info. There is some data that supports what I’m suggesting.

You mention being more “consistent”. The reason it’s NOT consistent is why I think it could be the protector. :)

All you can do is retrace your steps—uninstall apps, clear cache, reset developer options (if you’ve messed with them) or factory reset.

Do you have a non-stock launcher? In NOVA launcher, I can do what you describe by hitting the Recents button 2x. (Stock may be able to do also?)
