aps opening automatically

how can I stop aps from opening automatically. Aps like groupon, weather channel, facebook, my tracks, real-player, fring, drippler, etc. I like the aps but with them open they keep draining my battery.

Without rooting the phone I don't think you can change their start policy (if you are rooted then an app called Autostarts let's you control these things, and I've recently seen a lot of recommendations for Greenify, but neither will work without rooting). If you are on android 4 you should be able to disable them, and you can try killing them by hand (but some may restart).

I'd not bother with a task killer app. Those are likely to just confuse Android's app management, get into a loop of killing apps which are restarted again, and waste more power than they save.
