Arc S on AT&T (USA)

Hey everybody, first post here and want to say thanks for the great forum!

I got my Xperia Arc S yesterday and have been using it since. I had a "dumb phone" with the "Unlimited Data for Non-smartphones" before this. Now, when I put my SIM card into the Arc S, I was able to set up the 3G connection and have been using the internet. But, when I check my online account through AT&T's website, it shows that I am using a "Palm Treo 650" What's up with this? I was under the impression that since I bought this phone unlocked and is not offered by AT&T, that AT&T would not recognize what kind of phone I am using.

My concern is that AT&T will "force" a smartphone data plan on me.

Are there any other similar users that have encountered this, or is there anybody that can offer some assistance or advice?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

As far as I know every service provider has a way to know whether you are using a smartphone and a non-smartphone to use their net (at least internet part) since the settings you need to have on the phones might be different.
