Help Arc S unresponsive during and after a call

Hi I'm new here and have just got an Arc S.
Problem is that when I want to end a call the phone screen does not turn on and none of the buttons respond. This happens during a call and afterwards when the other person hangs up as well.

Any help?

Does this happens after every call? And when this has happened, how do you regain control of the phone?

Yes happens after every call. I have to take out the battery and restart the phone, not exactly very practical.

is the sensor on the top, on the left side of the microfone clean?

I'd suggest to run the Repair Phone option on the PC Companion. If the phone works fine all the time but when making the call it doesn't then it is most likely a software problem rather than the touchscreen not working properly. For this PC Companion could be the tool to fix it.

I have just used PC companion to repair the phone but the same problem occurs. it just is not responsive during a call.

Hi Freezin
I am in no way an expert, but I had a problem with Google Maps and using PC Companion to reset the phone did not fix the phone. If you have a wireless connection to your router just use the phone to reset the factory settings. Don't forget to back up anything you may require such as contacts. The only time I have had the problem repeated was when I connected the phone to the computer. I have since removed PC Companion from my computer, reset my phone as I have suggested and have had no further problems.

I tried your suggestion brit9 and unfortunately the problem persists. nothing wakes the screen up or activates the phone still from calls

any other suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. I bought my arc s just yesterday, and today i've noticed that sometimes (not everytime, but once each 3 calls) the display simply dissapears just after accept or reject a phonecall.
The display "wakes" up if i connect the phone to the PC.

Anyone found the solution?

Update: I went through the motions and sent my phone for repair to Sony Ericsson for free. Got it back within a week and it works normally! Seems like they fitted a new screen.
