Are Asus phones (Zenfone) good?

I saw the Zenfone 4 Max at my local Best Buy and I’m very intrigued. It looks very nice for a budget phone ($200), the software was smooth and easy to use, and the camera seemed pretty fast. Plus it has a gigantic 5000mAh battery.

Specs:
5.5” 720p display (not as bad in person as it sounds)
Snapdragon 430
Capacitive navigation keys
Dual rear cameras
microUSB
5000mAh battery

The Zenfone Max 4 that is listed on gsmarena have a 1080p screen. If that is thr case then it looks solid but Asus is notorious on putting tons of bloatware but if you're okay with that and with ZenUI then sure go for it. Just limit your expections with performance, SD430 combined with 4gb of ram can get you through the day but it won't really be buttery smooth all the time.

Asus actually removed a lot of their bloatware with the newest ZenUI 4.0. And the US model I saw at Best Buy has a 720p screen. Third party sites like GSMarena and PhoneArena aren’t always accurate with specs info, I always get specs info directly from the OEM site.
