Are refurbished tablets trustworthy?

I'm looking at getting a Galaxy Note 8, and just wondering if buying one refurbished is a viable option, or not?

I've bought 2 refurbished tablets and two refurbished phones. Didn't have much luck with them. All had issues got returns on 2 items and multiple exchanges on the other 2.

I actually prefer manufacturer refurbs. They have been individually reviewed and tested as opposed to production units which just go through random QC tests. I just bought a Galaxy Note 10.1 and love it.

Sure you only might get a 90 day warranty, but you should see any defects by then and you save a good bit on the purchase price. Just remember to get manufacturer refurbs (and not Joe's electronics shop refurbs) and get it through a reputable source.

Think that was my issue, they weren't manufacturers refurbished. ...... They were reputable store refurbished.

A store can take a phone back for many reasons, but even if it was still new in box, they can't sell it as new. It could have been a fussy phone that someone returned or a new phone that someone just changed their mind about. With stores, it's a crap-shoot because they generally only turn them on to see if they will boot. Manufacturers will give it a full diagnostic run-through.

Well, I'm looking on sites like Best Buy and Newegg, so I figure that means its manufacturer refurbished then?

Newegg will usually state that it's a manufacturer rerun. Don't know about Best Buy. They could sell returned stock as refurbished.

My Acer A500 is a refurb. I bought it a couple of years ago, so far, it's still working.
Got it from Amazon. Seller had a good rating. It was listed as refurbished.

My Nexus 7 (2012) is a refurb, and so is one of two others in my house. The only one I've had a problem with was the NEW one - it got stuck in a boot loop and I ended up going into fastboot and flashing the factory image.
