Are There Non-apparent Advantges To Newer Technology?

I am looking at two phones. Samsung S22 5G and S20 FE 5G.
The specs are pretty much the same for the things I do (I'm not big on cameras, streaming, etc.).
One place where they differ is the Battery. 3700mAH for the S22 verses 4500 for the S20. That means a lot to me.
The S20 is 17 months older. Is the new technology of the S33 superior so that this difference doesn't matter?
The S22 costs about $800 while the S20 is less then $600.

Is there something else I'm missing?

I would advise reading some tests of their battery lives rather than just judging on capacity: newer components are usually more energy efficient, all else being equal, so while I expect the s20FE will have a longer battery life it may not be as big a difference as the battery capacity might suggest. Of course the problem is that the s22 is so recent that there may not be so many reviews available yet.

Other than that, well the s20FE is much bigger (which may be a good or a bad thing, depending on your tastes). And the s20FE has a microSD slot, which the s22 doesn't (which, depending on what you use the space for this may mean you are OK with a 128GB version rather than 256GB, and hence should be able to get it for rather less than $600). Of course the s22 will have longer software support, since the s20FE is 1.5 years into its support period now. These are the main things that occur to me.

If you don't keep downloaded movies, or install lots of new/recent games, or keep a ton of music on your phone, you should be good with 128GB. I'm fine with 128GB as I don't play games or watch movies on my phone ( my 2021 Kindle Fire 10 - With play store and Google services) is for movies.

My current phone (Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact) has a Micro SD card. I get a report:

Internal shared storage...Used space 17.6 GB
Free space 4.04 GB

SD card Used space 36.5GB (mostly pics. of my grand daughter)
Free space 82.5 GB

So I guess I am good with 128 GB

As Hadron suggested I started checking tests of batteries and the S22 doesn't look that good. I need to look some more.

But I really wish I could find a smaller phone then even the S22.
