Are you a libertarian?

I'm not a Republican, Democrat, Tea Partier, Libertarian, or member of any other organized political party. I'm an American...

i subscribe many tenants of libertarianism. i don't like to label myself, but when people ask, i usually say i am a libertarian(lower case "L", not upper case).

On economic and some social matters I am attracted to libertarian ideas. Foreign policy not so much.

Libertarianism is flawed for the same reason why Capitalism and Communism are flawed: They depend on people being generally good and informed. Neither of which is true.

So then what? A benevolent dictator?

People tend to look at political parties like sports teams, they pick one, then just support and defend what they say. It becomes more about scoring points than critically looking at ideas.

I think most political ideologies have some good ideas.

I'm a Libertarian, but I have learned never to admit it in public. Here the party runs nutjobs who's main platform is legalizing drugs. They run and spend their entire campaign screaming at the top of their lungs about legalizing drugs. Meanwhile their Democrat and Republican counterparts are talking about things like education, the economy, jobs, etc.... The Libertarian candidates come off as nutjobs. A few years ago they ran an 18 yr old kid for a Senate seat. She came off as intelligent enough, but got 1-2% of the vote. I would not put an 18 yr old in the Senate.
