For now, perhaps. But as people's phones become predominantly wireless, with most carriers having nationwide calling the idea of "area" codes starts to blur. For example: I was born, raised and graduated high school in Oregon where I currently live now. However I was in the military and spent part of my service time stationed in Tucson. I have a 520 area code with no intention of changing. I also have a 949 area code with GV.
Fairly misleading for someone to see that I am calling from Tucson, when in fact I am in Oregon.
