Article about security issues with open source software

A couple of questions - What's the Android link to this article?
And what's the point it's trying to make? Any software has bugs. Microsoft (definitely not open source) release regular security patches, fixing identified bugs in their software.
Software is written by humans, therefore there will be mistakes, ready to be exploited, sometimes maliciously. That's a fact of life.
There's no such thing as a bug free software system, and there never will be.

Open source goes across all platforms especially Android. So by that being said there is no direct link to your question. I thought this would be interesting reading material. Any other questions? (WH)

Fair enough, but the article seems quite sensationalist. What is it suggesting? That we abandon the use of open source software? And replace it with what? The open source ecosystem is very powerful, in that it gives us a lot of functionality basically for free. And also it's maintained by a lot of people. That usually means more robust software, highly tested, with many people poring over the code to spot problems. And if there is a problem, it's usually resolved very quickly.
Btw, all I'm doing is challenging the article, this is a discussion forum after all. You're welcome to discuss further, or not.

Lol ok you got the name of the Authors of the articles, so you can go challenge away until your heart's content. Like I said I thought this was interesting reading because what you didn't know 5 minutes ago you know now after reading this article so you just got a few nanobytes smarter even though you didn't agree with what the author had published. Now from my point of view it's the end of this discussion while I search for something else good to read about and hopefully share with somebody that see some interest in my findings.

Cheers...

But it's not that interesting. It's hardly a revelation. Software has bugs and insecurities. Big deal. And I don't need to slog through the whole of that article to tell me what I already know. But let's put this in perspective. I would say that security flaws in software are insignificant, compared with the security breaches caused by poor user practices - like bad passwords easily cracked, or users falling victim to phishing scams etc. You can't blame that on open source software bugs.
Just my 2c.

Couldn't even finish the article, it was just too FUD-based for me personally. I prefer more objective analysis, when I run across some write-up that relies so much on vague, questionable interpretations I just move on to other things.

Ok and? So maybe this article wasn't designed just for you and that other person but there are 10 million other people out there that don't know about this, so maybe you should move on and read something that fits your intellect. You think? Because you telling me that you can't read it doesn't interest me none. And you will find what I care about you not liking this article you will find somewhere in a dictionary in between sh*t and syphilis.:D

Could you please refrain from using personal attacks and foul language in this discussion.
You started a thread to include a link to an article, and members are allowed to question, or disagree with the content of the article. If you can't handle that, then don't post articles like this.
If someone doesn't agree with what's said, it's not a personal attack on you, so no need to take it as a personal insult.

Off topic posts cleaned up. Please stay on the topic of the thread. Thanks.
