I think the iphone is doomed to fail.
As many fans as there are of the iphone, I think that popularity will eventually end up working against the iphone.
Part of the reason people went so crazy over it was because it was "cool" and a lot of people chime "well someone has to set the bar".. and a lot of people will spend all day talking about how apple "raised standards" ect ect.
While all of this may be true.. the fact is once the bar is jumped over, there is a new bar.
Want proof that google raised the bar on apple? Look at what apple did recently.
Apple Relaxes Development Demands as Android Grows: Tech News
And I'm not sitting here trying to bash iphone.. However, I really feel that android fans have a huge advantage over iphone users.
Android fans *want* customization, power and a diverse environment. Sure there are limiting factors like carrier and phone manufacturer.. but, there is more there to work with.. Ways to root, tweak code.. I think of android fans to phones almost like over clockers to computers.
There is a market, and it is real.. and what is "too complex" today and "cluttered" tomarrow is going to be "dell" .. well I hate these machines that come with bloatware.. time to spend 20 minutes deleting the crap I don't want and adding what I do!
At this point in time most people who don't live under rocks can operate a computer to do what they need to do with it.. I think in the future that is going to be android.
Offering a wide range of solutions to a wide range of users, while apple will be pretty much what they are now.. iOS x.x
I am not trying to say that one is better than the other.. everyone has what they prefer.. however, I am saying that in nature.. Flexibility means survival.
Some view androids fragmented market as a possible burden to overcome.. and well I think they are wrong.. By having a fragmented market.. sure it make take a bad wrap from some cheap crappy version intoduced by whatever manufacturer.. However, the upside is when good devices do come out, (and there are plenty to pick from each with their own flaws) it will give companies a chance to see what does work from phone to phone.
Plus people talk.. How many people do you know that won't buy "x brand" computer.. they go for "y brand" computer every time!
Well.. I have a feeling it could end up the same way with android.. which still means at the end of the day android is being bought.
