AS issues after PIE update?

Anyone seeing issues with their devices talking to their Exchange servers via AS after the update? We are hearing complaints that email stops syncing after a few hours. A restart kicks it off
 
What is AS?

Is this a specific device? Because I've been using Android 9 since last Summer with no problems with Exchange, so it might be an issue with the particular device that has just received the update (i.e. a problem with that manufacturer's Pie update rather than Pie per se). Or I might not be using AS, since I don't know what that is.
