Asphalt 8 Low Framerate's

Shocky

Android Expert
Gameloft really are a joke, iPhone get's optimized to run at 50-60 fps yet on Android they settle for 30 fps or less.

It's just not good enough, you can't comfortably play racing games with it dipping below 30 fps constantly, it's just BS.

Anyway, rant over.. I know it's cheap but don't buy this un-optimized rubbish from Gameloft.

Thought I'd add some framerate results so you guys know what i'm talking about, using fps meter.

All on Galaxy S4 i9505

Aspault 8 (medium quality, stutters and definitely NOT smooth)

Avg 30
Max 39
Min 20

Blitz Brigade (unplayable. another Gameloft title)

Avg 24
Max 28
Low 18

Riptide GP2 (highest quality, framerate drops ruin gameplay)

Avg 33
Max 52
Min 15

Dark Meadow

Avg 51
Max 62
Min 26

Dead Trigger (high settings)

Avg 37
Max 50
Min 29

Need For Speed Most Wanted (just about playable, barely.)

Avg 28
Max 34
Min 17

I have a 2013 Nexus 7 and I get crappy FPS in all those games as well.

Nexus 7 has the same basic hardware and screen resolution so results should be the same.

Dead Trigger and Dark Meadow are very playable.

Developers need to do better, so many users keep giving games 5 star ratings when they average less then 30 fps and have massive framerate drops..

I think Android gaming is doomed. :(

Its not doomed by any stretch but I hate to say that I somewhat envy iOS games readily available and optimised out of the box. But iOS phones with such a teeny weeny display are nothing compared to powerhouses we hold in our very hands now! Our day will come, patience.
