Asurion Having Open Enrollment?!

I was on the phone with Verizon discussing insurance.
Since I am way passed the 30 days Verizon was naturally telling me no, wait until your two years are up and then...
She pauses, asks to call me back.

It seems Asurion is having an open enrollment.
$99 deductable and the same $6.99 a month.

I am about to give up my Asurion, if they can't promise me a D1 for replacement I feel the $90 deductible is way to much as D1's are getting readily available on craigslist for around $100..

An Asurion replacement would be a reburb anyhow..
it's been a year now so @ $7 x 12 that's $84. If I finish out this year another $84 for a phone of their choosing plus $90 deductible just can't be justified in my head..

If I call them up to cancel and they can promise me in writing that I would receive a D1 I just may keep it..

but in your case your still young on your plan so yes enroll...

I was told by the VZ rep that the insurance was $5.70 and exact replacement was $1.29.
I also emailed them.
We'll see how they respond.

I weighed it out. The alternatives are CL or eBay or $500 to VZ, none of which excite me.

$1.29 wtf? for?

EDIT>
NVM that's $6.99 part is Verizons cut the other is Asurions... I think..

I was thinking only $1.29 when it comes time to replace. To early in the morning. Was like holy crap if that's the deductible I am getting really screwed... LMFAO

Just a few more details on Verizon's Open Enrollment for you . . .

If you are past the 30 day post-purchase activation window to sign up for insurance, this is your second chance. Total Equipment Coverage (TEC) open enrollment runs Feb. 28-April 28, 2011. Open enrollment is available to ALL eligible Verizon customers for any fully functioning device. TEC provides the most comprehensive coverage and includes Mobile Recovery, allowing you to secure and locate your lost phone. The best part, you receive a replacement device next day in most cases. Don’t worry about paying full retail price to replace your device if it’s lost, stolen or damaged – you’re covered. To find out more about TEC open enrollment or sign up, visit http://bit.ly/VZWOpEn.

Thanks so much!

Don't use Asurion. If you want insurance, invest in a good case like an Otterbox.
Asurion promised me $132 trade-in for my Eris and never sent me the money. They are lying thieves. I have called them many times and tried to bring in Verizon, but months have gone by and no money.
They are a ripoff.
