Root [AT&T] Adding build.prop tweaks?

Hello all, sorry if I may be reposting/posting in the wrong place. I'm somewhat new to these type of forums and I'm still not too comfortable with them.
I've been really looking into build.prop tweaks to play with on my AT&T Galaxy s3, (stock-rooted 4.1.2 premium suit), and I'm not too sure how to add them properly. Many different sources say to do it one way, and another says another way. Oh so confusing.

I already tried making some tweaks, and I'm not sure if it's my sd card, but my phone has trouble reading now, either it will take forever to read or it just wont at all. Here's a pic of what I added looks like;

So is this right? Or am I doing something wrong?
Any help is appreciated

I moved your thread over to the ATT Galaxy S3 All Things Root Forum so the root users in here can lend you a hand.

I don't have an S3, so I don't know exactly how to help, but I'm sure someone in here can point you in the right direction.

Yes, that's the general idea. I'd always keep a backup in case you ro.monkey with it too much and it breaks. What kind of tweaks are you trying to accomplish? There's not much to tweak in there anymore.

I'm just trying to apply the tweaks I had in the bottom of the picture
So it looks like I'm doing it right? I don't need any of "#", extra spaces or anything?

I did notice better battery life with the battery saving tweaks I assume, so I guess it's working properly.
