AT&T Adds New Prepay Data Plans for 3G Tablets.

Hook

Ever since DU... ;-)
Not sure if this is of interest to many, but AT&T, without much fanfare added two new Data packages for tablets like the AT&T Nexus 7 (Tilapia).

One, which I don't care much about, is a One day pass with 250MB for $5.

The other, which I grabbed, is 1GB good for 90 days for $25. This is perfect for someone who is a light data user like me. Pro-rated over three months it is pretty cheap, cheaper than 250 MB for 30 days at $15. Also, having 1GB for that time period gives you some flexibility if at some point you need to do something that will chew up a few hundred MB of data.

I suspect this is an experiment because they offer no auto-renew option for it. Could end up going away, but I hope not. It is really perfect for my tablet use.

Just FYI. I hadn't heard of this until I stumbled n it. Srry if this was posted elsewhere on these forums.

Check out t-mobil. they are offering 200mb per month free forever. I think they started this promotion Nov. 3. I had the t-mobile sim card that shipped with the Nexus 7 so I inserted the card and I'm good to go.

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. It started November 1st and I signed up for it November 2nd. Free data is free data, and it's when lte:D

So, Tilapia is Quad band? When I bought mine it was listed as AT&T data and came with an AT&T sim. They only later made a T-Mobile edition available IIRC, so I assumed they were different.

Tilapia is actually Penta band HSPA, Quad band EDGE that works on the following
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100

So that covers everything that AT&T or T-Mobile offers (except their LTE).

Deb (2013 variant) has the following compatibilities:

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
LTE 700 / 750 / 850 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100

So it has the hardware to work completely on AT&T and T-Mobile including their LTE as well as skirt on Verizon's LTE (no 3G though) if you have an already active Verizon SIM card. Verizon refuses to activate new SIMs for it though because they're control freaks.

Well, blow me down. I'm not sure how good my T-Mobile coverage is, but I think I'm about to find out. ;-) Ordering SIM card.

Yeah, I had to go to a store to set it up since I couldn't find any instructions on how to set it up manually myself.
