Root [AT&T] Can I factory reset while rooted?

This is a noob question. I rooted for the first time last month, but haven't done too much with it yet. I am running stock. I've had this phone for over a year and would like to factory reset and start over. Can I reset safely while rooted? Do I need to unroot first? Will I lose root when I reset? Is there anything else I need to know before factory resetting? Thanks for your help.

What ROM are you running? Factory reset typically means wiping /data, cache, and dalvik cache. If you are running a custom ROM that was pre-rooted, then no, a factory reset will not upset root. If you are on a stock root-injected ROM, then there is a good chance it will be gone.

My phone has been rooted for some time now. Stock rooted and have done several Factory Reset and still have root. No harm no foul.
