Root [AT&T] Changing SMS smileys to Gingerbread style

How can I change the SMS smileys to the green ones from Gingerbread? I can't stand these generic yellow ones in the stock Sense 4 SMS app. Thanks in advance.
 
I don't think you can using the stock app (not without rooting anyway), your only option would be one of the alternative SMS apps like GoSMS or Handcent. I believe they have alternative smiley options.
