Root [AT&T] Complete noob guide to rooting and installing CyanogenMod?

yapoyo

Lurker
So, I'm fed up of TouchWiz, and using Nova Launcher is great, but I just want to run pure stock android on my SGH-i747. So, I want to root. I have no idea how, though.

I also want to install CyanogenMod 10.1 on my phone, how would I do that? (I don't have an external SD card.)

First, rooting guide

Second, cyanogenmod link for d2att

So, first you will need to root with the first link

Once rooted, install a custom recovery (like cwm)
You can find it in the op of the cyanogenmod link

Next, MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
This is very important! Do NOT flash any rom without making one. Google how to do this. It's very simple with cwm

Next, wipe phone, clear dalvik, and install the cyanogenmod rom you downloaded.

Also, find and download a gapps zip too, the latest is best. You will need that for all the google goodies. You flash this after you finish flashing cyanogen.

I hope the links help

It always helps to read read read. This can wreck your phone, so be carefull.

Xda forums for the AT&T sgs3 are a great resource for different roms and apps.

Cheers!
