I thik that is kind of funny. I say this because the High end Android devices are already out-specing the Iphone, and android already does pretty much everything mac OS does and then some. By extending the exclusivity with ATT, they will only give Android a wider field to expand in, more time to improve, more manufacturers to adopt it, more products to enter the market (with even higher specs), and more time for the Android market to continue its massive expansion into itunes /app-store territory.
IMHO the best thing apple could have done to slow down the expansion of andro is, is to make the damn phones available to other carriers. I gues sthey would no longer be able to rape them in contract terms, but at least they would increase their market share and give people who don't want ATT an option - thus keeping them away from android.
By keeping the exclusive with ATT, all they are doing is giving Android more time to become the defacto market standard, which it seem to be well on its way to becoming.
