Root [AT&T] Firmware upgrade with Samsung Kies?

Having just rooted using Odin & Clockworkmod, is it ok to use Samsung Kies to upgrade my firmware? Will I lose root?

You will loose root and to update with Kies or OTA you will need to go back to stock recovery instead of CWM. That said after update you should be able to re-root.

I have a AT&T S3 that is still factory ICS. From a stand point of eventually wanting to root and rom it is it better to stay ICS or do the Keis air JB update? Or does it make a difference - Thanks

If you have a mac, the root method will only work on ics. However, if you're using a windows then it wouldn't matter.

To Dave, ICS is in many peoples opinion, more stable and less battery consuming.
Although, JB is faster and smoother.
