Hello shefrn. The factory data ("hard") reset is still the best way to "clean house" (along with a cache partition wipe via the recovery menu) following an OTA update.
If possible, doing the reset (after backup) prior to the update is also prudent.. two factory data resets; one before and one after, really washes the thing out and makes for a brand new-like device.
that's fine but personally I think it's bullcrap that you have to go that far...for the kind of money you pay for this technology and the at&t service there has to be a better way...
doing a factory reset is a PITA to get the phone back to running again..it was working perfectly fine before the upgrade......i am a mother of 2 who works full time and have limited time as it is....I'm pretty technologically savy but sometimes you need a degree to just get these phones to do what they are supposed to do....run!!!
sorry for the tangent....just feel very frustrated
