Root [AT&T] Google wallet in action - Fail

So I have google wallet up and running on my S3 (ICS). Cards are loaded, NFC is on. When i went to my local CVS, it would not work. I took the phone out of the case as well just to see if there were any interference, but no dice.

Anyone else have positive results? Any way to test?

could be a broken device on the CVS end.

i've been to stores where their reader was broken. so i had to use my trusty 'ol card.

That's what i was afraid of. Thanks. i'll keep trying

Your battery cover can not have any metal or real carbon fiber on it, or the NFC chip will be blocked. Also, if a paypass unit goes bad, the store has zero incentive to fix it. Even places like Best Buy that have the physical readers installed at every check out register have simply disabled them. They would rather they be shut off, than deal with calling the Paypass reps to come out and fix them.

I hate to say it, but until Apple AND Google really push this tech, it is going to be slow going. What should have taken months to implement, is going to probably take a decade or more. iSad

Nauseating as it is for me to admit this, we needed Apple to come through for us with NFC capabilities in the iPhone5 in order to force the marketplace in the NFC pay option direction.

Since that didn't happen, you're right; what should have taken months to become a reality will now stretch into years more of smoke and mirrors.
