AT&T GPS + Samsung Captivate?

Sheldor

Newbie
I'm finally getting an update on AT&T, and making the switch from the first gen iphone to the Samsung Captivate.

My question involves the GPS service on the phone. As i understand it AT&T has an additional fee to use the GPS navigator. What I don't understand is whether or not this fee is to use their GPS program, or for the GPS service itself. For example, if I used Google navigator, or some other app, would I still get a monthly fee?

This is my first Android, and first phone with GPS, so I'm still a bit unclear on the concept. Also, years as an Apple/AT&T client has made me distrustful on what I'm paying for.

I would greatly appreciate expediency on this, I'm planing to pick up the phone tomorrow, and would like to have a clear idea by then.

No, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Google Navigator is built-in to the OS itself, and GPS functionality is built into the phone. Its completely separate from your phone company.
