Root [AT&T] Long needed upgrade advise needed

Hello all.

It's been awhile and I need some help.
I've been running forever Venom 3.2.6 with Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4+. So I decided to do an update.

I'm now using Venom 4.2.0 that has Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5. Ever since the upgrade my radios have been acting like crap. Low signal, no signal, etc. My radios are at version 0.19... something.

Does any have any experience with the new sense, android versions and radios? Someone in a post on Xda was claiming some problems with Sense 5 and radio versions. Can there be any truth to that?

Anyway. I'm gonna have to S-Off finally which will fix my whole boot.img pain in the ass thing.

Anyone have any radio version suggestion or other Rom suggestions?

im a bit out of touch with one xl roms, but id advise against swapping radios around without the rest of the matching firmware. doing so can result in no changes,to worse signal and connectivity

i personally would s off, then simply update to the most current firmware combination. how you would do that depends largely on what youre currently on.

By firmware combination, you are referring to Radio and what?

I do not have anything listed as firmware under Software Information.

Okay.

I believe ATT 3.18 uses Hboot 2.14 with Radio 0.24.

Hopefully this will lead to some good 4.2.2 action. I'll be confirming soon. :smokingsomb:

oops, sorry i somehow missed your other post :o

other firmware include dzdata, rcdata,tp,tpm, sbl, and a few others. there is not way to tell what firmware youre on if youve mix and matched things. the firmware will correspond with your build number if youre completely stock.

3.18 is a good starting point. from there you can flash the firmware.zip from the newest OTA,if you want to. :)

You need to upgrade to at least the firmware from the 5.08 release (commonly referred to as the 2.15 firmware, due to it containing the 2.15 hboot) if you're running any Sense 5 ROM. I have a download and detailed instructions here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593382

Is that a complete set? Or just firmware.zip from an ota? If the latter, what builds are between 3.18 and 5.08? Depending on what they contain,he may need to flash other firmware.zips in order for everything to match.

It's only the firmware. No other flashing is necessary.

So there are no other builds between 3.18 and 5.08?

Or your firmware package is from, say,a 5.08 ruu?

I maybe didn't ask it very well, but you didn't really answer my question ;)

The firmware package is extracted from the 5.08 T-Mobile OTA that came out in September last year. The 3.18 RUU release was an at&t release so they're on different paths, but there were technically no releases between those two, no. But, it doesn't matter what your current firmware is before flashing the package, you can be on an early firmware (1.09 hboot) and flash directly to that one without any problems.

I should say that the firmware package wasn't put together by me, it was put together by Turge, who is a Team Venom member. I link directly to his download but I rewrote the instructions as they weren't the most user friendly instructions in his ROM thread.

t mobile? do you mean a t mobile uk ota,or something along those lines? or are you guys flashing one s firmware to your devices?

i dont doubt that you can physically flash the firmware with no prollems, but doing so may not work optimally, espeically if youre on older and/or us firmware.

in my experience, mix and matching like that doesnt always make things better, tho it also may not makes things detectably worse. IMO alot of the hype and reports are from the placebo affect of changing something ;)

these phones are not like the OG incredible or evo wich only contained 8 images in the ruu and swapping radios was no big deal. i think firmware should match, and in most cases using the set designed for your particular region, gives you the best performance. just my 2 cents. :)

T-Mobile Germany. All I can say is thousands of users have flashed this firmware, coming from a range of starting setups, and we've basically had no negative reports.
