Help AT&T Note 4 on T-Mobile question

Dotxsl

Lurker
I recently got a unlocked note 4 that was originally an at&nt phone, I swapped the sim card in and it works fine, but I still use a lot of the at&nt software. My main concern is software updates, I use the at&nt servers for updates even though I am not with them, will this be a problem?

From my experience w/an AT&T LG OPTIMUS G PRO,you won't be able to get the update(s) pushed w/o AT&T service.
I bought the phone used, directly from AMAZON.
Then,I proceeded to SIM Unlock the phone,no problems there, works flawlessly on T-MOBILE.
However,it was running ANDROID 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich & the only way I could get the 4.1 Jelly Bean update was to buy a months worth of service w/AT&T.(can't remember if any aftermarket/root-ROMS were available).
If it were an unlocked phone, not tied to a carrier out-of-the-box,perhaps/maybe the mfg (LG) could have pushed the update.

I'd contact SAMSUNG & see if they can help you out,or,if you know someone on AT&T who wouldn't mind letting you use their AT&T SIM Card to update.

Thanks, because when I go to check for updates it says connect to AT&NT servers. And it appears to connect ok and even tells me my system is update. Thank you for the prepaid sim idea.

I think that's what I got before getting the pre-paid AT&T SIM Card.
I also went through AT&T's Customer Care & was told as much that I'd have to have AT&T service for the update to be pushed.
Another possible option would be to visit an AT&T Store & see if they can somehow update it for you.
I tried in my area & got the polite, but, cold shoulder.Perhaps you may have better luck than I........................
