AT&T phone that best holds its value?

Hey guys, I've been using a Captivate for the past 6 months. I dropped it and the screen cracked and it won't turn on anymore. I am upgrade eligible with AT&T, but there's nothing currently I want. I'm waiting for a dual-core Inspire or maybe the Nexus SII. In the mean time, I need a phone to get me thru the next couple of months.

I see some Nexus One's on ebay and Amazon for around the $270 mark. They are still selling for $200 on craigslist. Is the N1 my best bet if I want something to use for a few months and then sell on craigslist?
 
So you are looking for an out of contract/retail phone that holds it value or something you can buy now on contract and sell to buy something retail down the road?

What is your spending cap?
 
Looking to buy something unlocked/off-contract now - something that I can use and then sell later one when the HTC Holiday or Nexus GII comes out, which I will buy via AT&T with my upgrade. Sorry that wasn't clear.

Would like to stay around $200-$250 max now.
 
You are looking to predict the future. No one can tell you what will happen in a few months. If the phones you (and others) are waiting for turn out to be duds, the price of most of the phones you are looking at will keep up. If one of those new phones is a real hit and people start selling their 3 month old Atrix to get one, all the phone you are looking at will be worth nothing overnight.

None of this will matter if you drop the new phone and it breaks.

Bottom line is to get what works for you in your budget and hope that there will still be a market for it when you are ready to sell and that it will be in a sellable condition.

One more thought: When you buy off Craig's List or eBay, just make sure that you are not getting a stolen phone.
 
I have a Nexus One and a Captivate and while the screen is a little smaller, I still prefer the N1 to the Captivate. It should be very serviceable for several months.

One thing to consider .... there are two versions of the N1. One with AT&T's 3G frequencies and the other with T-mobile's. Make sure you get the one that will support your carrier's 3G bands or you will only get 2G (Edge) data speeds. If the seller doesn't know or understand, then pass.
