Root [AT&T] Questions about a replacement for iTunes...

BSBHVR2

Newbie
What I'm looking for is a program like iTunes that is made for Android phones. I still use iTunes (in conjunction with Easy Phone Sync) to transfer and add songs to the music library on my SIII, but it just seems wrong. I'd like something made for Android. Is there such a program? And if so, I'd like to wipe all the songs on my phone and start fresh with the new program. How might I go about that?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is a great question and one I have been researching as well. What I have found is using Google Music. The reason I have chosen it, is that I can sync my iTunes from my pc when I install the pc program, the songs I have installed on my phone, and use the service with or without a data connection, depending on where the song file is saved.
You can find the app here:
Google Play Music - App

Let us know what you find that works for you!

I will give it a shot and report back! Thanks! Do you happen to know of an easy way to delete all the music already on my phone so I can start fresh?

When I changed over to Google Music, I transferred all of my music from all of my devices, phones, multiple pcs etc, all on to the one pc that I had my iTunes on. Apparently I had multiple versions of the same songs all over the place, and I got to spend some time removing duplicate songs, kinda cleaned it up some... Lol

Then installed Google Music, and the pc program searched the entire pc... Uploaded everything to Google Music. Then I installed the app on my phone. I also use Chrome on all of my pcs, laptops etc, and can listen to my Google Music directly through there, and not always from my phone while working or traveling.

Biggest thing to remember is that if the song file is only on the pc, you have to have a data connection to listen to it on the phone... Or in the app you can select to download it to the phone but (limited to a few downloads per song). Therefore, whenever I go on a trip, I usually will transfer a song list directly to my phone from the pc, or rely on a data connection.

Okay. Tried using Google music and ran into a problem. When it scanned my computer for music files, it didn't find very many at all. And I have like 300 saved on my computer. It only found 40 or so. Any ideas there?

Next I tried Kies but I also ran into a problem with that. It actually got all the songs to my phone, but not all in the individual playlists I set up on the Kies program itself. Some were, and others just sitting there in the "media folder" on my phone. Any ideas what to do about that?

Google Music finds and uploads songs in a format like MP3...is it possible that your iTunes music although on your computer, is actually in a different format?
I am not familiar enough with Kies to know how it transfers play lists.
For me, I made sure that the Google music program on the pc found and uploaded all of the songs I wanted and created play lists from there... Since it searches the entire computer for media...
If you know the songs are in itunes, you should be able to find the actual folders they are saved in, or move them to a common music folder, and also make sure they are an identifiable format for Google music.. Not Only in an itunes AAC format...
Good luck and let us what you find!
