AT&T to offer incentives

Engadget states that AT&T is planning on rewarding those who cut down on their data usage; however, the "reward" has yet to be thought of.
Based on the user comments it seems more people want out as a reward rather than cash back.

ATT's arrogance and greed will be its own undoing. The educated consumer is its worst enemy! Consumers will wake up and do as I have done...drop them like a bad habit.

I understand their need to cap data usage. These days smart phones are using extreme amounts of bandwidth. We're not talking about BlackBerry phones where the data is small, the iPhone streams so much data it's transferring as much as a laptop.

Wait 4-6 months and Verizon and other carriers will follow suit. With the newer smart phones out there the bandwidth will be used so much they will need to cap it.

I would like to see a lower rate plan over some "reward" program. I shouldn't have to pay the same amount as a guy who is streaming Pandora/YouTube 10 hours a day.

I don't think others will follow suit. They are not having overload issues like AT&T is.
Plus, order carriers have different DATA packages cased on MB to Gb to Unlimited already.

I see lots of angry people on that thread. These are the people that Apple wants, they will stand in line for the latest and greatest iPhone. But AT&T hates them.

people are only going to demand more and more data: get all the latest videos, dload all those apps, etc

Your kidding right? ATT needs to cap bandwidth b/c they are not investing in thier backbone infrastructure like they should be. Verizon/Sprint Will not have any problems keeping up with peoples bandwidth needs.
