Root [AT&T] Types of ROMs and reasons to root

I think it would be beneficial to be able to read a list of some of the more popular ROMs and some of the highlights from each one. Does anyone know if there is such a compiled list?

I would love to have the ability to over/under clock and a little more customization would be great too. So I've decide I will root my device, just not sure with what ROMs yet. I realize that the best way is to probably try a lot out, but with my job I don't have a lot of time to do so.

I also had a question as well. Can you use TacTiles to set the cpu speeds (under/over clocking)? I would love to have it set to under clock when I get to the office since I don't use it much there and would love some extra battery life during the day. Are there certain ROMs you can do this with, or will any work?

This was brought up on XDA as well and someone there agreed to step up and do it. Not sure where in the process it is though.

Thanks. I've looked at XDA as well but haven't had any luck finding such a list.

Does anyone know about using TacTiles and/or Tasker to control the clock speed?
