AT&T Update Ruins Battery Life?

Both my wife and I use the Note 5. This morning we both ran a system update pushed from AT&T. I can't see exactly what the update was but I can tell you I'm currently running Android 6.0.1. Both our phones now are getting horrible battery performance. My wife's phone completely drained and shut down after just about 4 hours this morning. My phone was also getting significantly less battery life by late afternoon. This phone has been doing well all day long before this update. Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe there's something we both need to do to resolve this?

I got the update on Friday and haven't noticed anything different. Here's today's usage. It was around 28% left when I plugged in after 6 hours on battery.

Here's mine after today's update. I wasn't even on the phone at all today other than an occasional check of the time or a message. I'm normally on my phone for HOURS on calls and still by this time would still have 50% battery left. This is not cool...

Well I just performed a factory reset. What a debacle. I used Samsung SmartSwitch to make a complete backup of my phone (with the latest version). Did the reset, and then a full restore. So much for that! It restored my apps, phone log, address book, and SMS messages. But all my settings (launcher, email accounts, podcast player downloads and subscriptions, eBook reader status, etc...) ALL GONE!! What... the literal HELL??? I am so pissed off right now.

So... It looks like the newest version of Smart Switch actually backs up far less information the the previous. It's like each "upgrade" means things get worse!

That really sucks all around. I'll keep a better eye on it but thus far haven't noticed a decrease in battery life.

I've had 2 updates pushed to my phone from AT&T in the past 4 days. What are they? I cant find any info but I will keep track of my battery life.

Well, a day of heavy use for me after the factory reset looks like it resolved the battery drain problem. I will just need another month of figiting to get this guy back to the way it was. I'll be damned if I'll ever figure out where I was in the eBook I was reading. At least I wasn't too involved in the podcasts I was listening to.

So, does anyone know of a good way to make a backup of an Android phone that will retain settings better than the Smart Switch?

Not really. Samsung Kies isn't any better. They need to build an app that backs up as good as iCloud. When I owned an iphone I never lost anything when restoring.
