AT&T's Android Site Changed

Check it out: http://www.att.com/android

That page was the same page from January till last week. It just changed this weekend. Now there's a little Android FAQ, a few nice blurbs about Android, and a nice big "More coming soon" sign with the Motorola, Dell, and HTC logos beneath it. Looks like they're definitely gearing up!

It changed Thurs but sadly they are not even talking with their handset makers. It list the backflip as being upgradable to 2.0 and motos site is clear that it should get 2.1 in Q3.

I do like one thing...the little Q&A at the bottom is "how to fix some of the crap AT&T did to my backflop"

not really an android FAQ more like a fix your backflop faq, perhaps they should give instructions on how to root it and install 2.1

Well...logos for vendors, except for Samsung. I wonder if that means no Galaxy S.

I haven't seen any rumors re: Motorola for AT&T. Don't want the Backflip.

Don't what the Dell 5": too big, and too old OS.

The HTC may be nice, but it's already less than the competetion has.

I'm hanging on, but if they don't get up to speed with something high end, I may give up and go elsewhere.

Wish I could at this point... I myself have been off contract since last November (been waiting a long time to upgrade...) But my Wife and Daughters phones would come along with a hefty ETF so It's not really an option at this point. Plus AT&T has better reception where I am than Verizon... Really a bad situation to be in since I am basically at the mercy of AT&T to get me something/anything that is worth actually paying money for.

I have seen tons of rumors, but no good rumors except the Dell Streak and today's announcement of the HTC Aria. Here is a rumor for the Galaxy S

Galaxy S for ATT

The US version is suppose to be coming with 2.1, can't help you with the size. Unless you want to go with the recently announce HTC Aria

HTC Aria coming June 20

Well, there was also a ton of rumors about us getting the Desire, and tons of other phones. Dont see that happening. Just goes to show believe nothing until its in the store living and breathing. for at least 3 days. As for Dells getting 2.1 I believe that to be rumor as well.

I haven't seen that it is 'coming' with 2.1, but that it would be upgraded some day.

I"m thinking the best size is in the just over 4" range, although minimum would be like the Incredible. The Samsung is the one on the list of rumors that I am interested in.

I like HTC phones. My current one is an old AT&T Tilt (time to upgrade, wouldn't ya say?

The other thing is, given that I do tend to stretch things to maybe past end of life (I do that with my cars too)...I want the hotest processing power when I do purchase. So I'm thinking that puts me at a minimum of the 1Gh Snapdragon.

I'm still hanging in waiting on AT&T to come around. I"m dieing to purchase somethign, but will wait up to the holiday season.

Speaking of rumors, the rumor of the Galaxly for AT&T, the i897, if I remember correctly, often stated it as a Snapdragen processor. I don't believe that. But who knows.

Gives us something to watch for I guess.

I highly doubt it will have snapdragon as Samsung makes the processor that is currently in the Galaxy S.

As for Dell himself saying they'd have 2.1 he's said alot of stuff about the release that hasn't happened yet. Since they cant even get the horse out of the stable I dont think I'll trust anything Dell or AT&T says till it happens (not that AT&T ever says much)

Based on AT&Ts reluctance to announce anything ahead of time it would not surprise me in the least bit if they didnt announce the Streaks release the day before. I do think however they are gonna jump more on the android bandwagon because if not they are going to loose a huge user segmant that either dont wanna pay for an iphone or simply dont wanna have to do things through apple. I think they learned from the mistake they made with the backflip and even if its not all of them offer at least a few genuine android headsets.

I really don't think AT&T is too worried about losing the android nuts, they're more worried about locking in the Iphone nuts :)

regardless android is just peanuts to them...

See what I did there!
