ATT Customer Service Experience :(

I got a Dell Streak 5 phone for VERY cheap and decided to open an account with ATT. I then went to work and was offered nearly 4 times what i paid for the phone so sold it on the spot. I then decided to cancel my ATT account. (The activation fee is credited if you cancel within 3 days.) So I called ATT.

I just got off the phone with ATT customer service this morning. I called to cancel the account and got into a big ATT person loop, finally talked to a guy named Francisco. Sure wish he spoke decent English at a "NORMAL" speed so a average person could understand him and keep up with him!
I explained i wanted to cancel my account because i sold my equipment and no longer wished to be a ATT customer. The very next thing he asked me was if i wanted an additional line? I then asked him why would i want another line if i am calling to cancel? If he could not handle my request, please connect me to another person who could.

He apologized and told me to hold on. He told me the account was canceled. I asked him to slow down and be very accurate with what he was saying. I asked him if the activation fee was canceled and he said yes. Told me that i would owe nothing when the bill showed up.

Not liking him or believing what he said, i called my local ATT store where i set up the account and talked to the store manager. He checked the account and saw where the notes were added by Francisco. The account was not set to be cancelled until 5/20/11 !! What a snow job i got from Francisco. Come that time i would not have the activation amount credited because it would have been beyond the 3 days and i would have been charged a full first month!! The local manager apologized for the crap and immediately closed the account, just as i had asked Fransisco to do!

Now i will be billed ZERO and things will be OK. I guess my point is, talk to your local store FIRST for help and do not rely on the EXTREMELY poor customer service ATT provides..............at least this time to me.

yeah, AT&T customer service is crap. I want to leave AT&T as soon as I possibly can. I'm so sick of them already.
 
well I'm on my parent's plan, so I'd rather suffer through crappy customer service and not pay anything, than have good customer service but pay for it. Eventually, I'll switch over to someone else...

I'll respectfully disagree. When a person represents a company that, in turn, looks bad on the corporation as a whole.

yeah, AT&T customer service is crap. I want to leave AT&T as soon as I possibly can. I'm so sick of them already.

I had had ATT for years. About a year ago my wife ran into an issue that left a VERY sour taste in my mouth. HOURS turned into days trying to get the issue resolved. I walked and haven't looked back since.

Didn't you just join lol besides it is not crap. Nor is it better anywhere else

People will be people, sure, but as mentioned above, they represent the company as a whole. Just hope to not get the bad egg.
