i picked up a very cheap note 4 from at&t at a yardsale and paid for the sim unlock and im curious as to what all i need to do to use it in place of my current metro phone

just plug in the SIM card

You will also have to call Metro customer service and register the ESN of the phone to your current SIM card, otherwise it will not work.
Hopefully the phone was cheap only because someone did not need it any more and not because the ESN is blacklisted.

ya ive called att and checked a few online lookups and says the phones all clear so ill call metro in a few. the phone says after being unlocked that its not allowed so all seems good just need to add the imei
