Help [ATT] Play Store Connection Issue

Running Google Play Store my AT&T Galaxy Note 8 won't find wi-fi or a cellular connection despite Wi-fi at 585mbps and 4GLTE at 5 bars. I went right to Netflix and downloaded a 108Mb video in about 10 seconds then I called the AT&T Store for support. Neither had a problem working. Also, I am less than 1000M from a cell tower.

This is my second phone; AT&T replaced the first one because of this problem. The tech at the store recommended I try to get a warranty replacement with a different model of phone (not what I wanted!).

This has been happening since I got the first phone when they were released.

I have reloaded Play Store on both phones with no effect on this problem. Also, the first phone had a factory reset and the problem came right back.

Any idea?

Are you sure you're not just relying on mobile data? This sounds more like there's a problem as far as setting up your home WiFi on your phone(s). When you go into your Settings >> Wi-Fi menu, is your home WiFi showing up in the list?

What do you mean it won’t “find” a connection??

What particular app are you trying to download?

Are you getting an error message? Is the play store app stuck at ‘downloading” or “verifying” ?

Did you use smartswitch to copy over data from one phone to this new phone? If so this could have caused som issues.

Let’s not talk about the other phone that had the reset issue since you don’t have it.

Is this phone a BRAND NEW unopened device or is it a refurb or insurance replacement?

If you can use your data for other apps and its just the play store causing you issues, you may need to clear the google services cache, clearing the phones cache (from phone OFF, press and hold power+vol up+ bixby key. This procedure is on the att site or you can search the internet to do this), clearing the play store app cache.

Worse case, you need to reset the phone and dont use any backup from another device. If you are doing this there may be issues you are installing without your knowledge. I dont know if you are doing this but i have to ask since this is the internet and i cant see the phone. Also I don’t know your level of android experience (theres lots of iPhone converts who popup form time to time).

The fact you are near a tower means nothing. You may not even be c0onnected to that particular tower and the tower could have issues. This sounds more like a google account issue (since google play store is tied to your google account and fianicnal info ) and not a note 8 issue, because , based on what you have typed. The phone is getting data and functioning normally, its just having an issue with the play store.
