Attach more than photos to emails using Astro!

I just found this today...maybe everyone else knows this already, but I haven't seen it posted here.

I was trying to send a couple files to someone from my Droid, and Gmail would only allow me to attach picture files. VERY frustrating.

I finally opened up Astro file manager to see if I renamed the files w/a ".jpg" ending it would let me attach the files as fake jpgs.

I did a long press on one of the files to get to the Edit menu, and lo and behold, what do I see but a "Send" option that I had forgotten was there.

Tap Send and choice of Gmail or Email offered to me.

Tap Gmail and message opens w/the file attached and read to address and send.

Tah-dah! :)

I couldn't find a way to select and send multiple files in one email, but just happy I can send one at a time at this point...Google needs to get off their duffs and allow non-photo attachments in email.

Hopefully this isn't old news...but even it if it is, I'm pretty happy I found this.

I've had Astro for a while. I knew the "send" option was available in the app, but hadn't yet tried it to see if it would actually attach any file to an outgoing e-mail. Nice to know that it works.

I just checked my Droid Eris Gmail app and your right you can't attach anything except for pictures. That is really weird. I do know that in Albums if you have a video you can hit the share button to select Gmail, Mail, Messages, or Youtube.

In the regular Droid Eris Mail when composing you can attach pics, vids, audio, pdf, office documents, Location, or create (Camera, Record Video, Record Audio).
