Attaching Pic to Text Message Sends It Automatically

This is a hard one to describe in a headline.

If I want to send a text message - and I attach a picture, as soon as I OK the pic, it sends. If I've started typing text, it sends the pic without the text.

If I paste a pic from my clipboard, it sends automatically. Today I hit "paste" and the pic in my clipboard WASN"T the one I wanted to send - but I couldn't stop it! Once it appeared on screen, it was gone.

I am running Marshmallow.

Try a different text message app. If you are using the default Samsung app, it's ... um ... less than satisfactory.
